15 Ways to Stay Close to Your Customers

  1. Send a letter of “thank you for you business”

  2. Call to make sure that all is right

  3. Check that they are using the item correctly

  4. Send a survey card via email or snail mail

  5. Send interesting articles about your business or something new that you are offering

  6. Drop by to show them what’s new

  7. Help with ideas to help them with their business

  8. Offer discounts or specials at certain times of the year

  9. Let customers know they can call you if they need help

  10. Be personal when you see them - know their name and any other personal information i.e. birthday, children’s names, etc.

  11. Give feedback to them when they give you referrals

  12. Keep confidential information about your client private

  13. Keep your promises - if you say you will do something by a specific time, do it or call to tell progress

  14. Keep in touch by phone, in person or email on a quarterly basis
